DAY 5

We are all called to preach the Good News–not just men, not just women, not just rich, and not just poor.  Even the children. as followers of Christ, are empowered to share their faith with others.

Scripture references for today's topic:
John 3:16
Matthew 28:18-20
Romans 1:16

PRE-SERVICE ACTIVITY

While we waited for our friends to join us, we made our "Good Shepard" Bookmarks.

Discussion

Our bookmarks are a great tool to share the good news of Christ!

Sometimes we can use a tool that reminds us of our salvation story.  And that tool can help us share salvation with other people.

Salvation Witness Bracelet

Discussion With Miss Shelley

  • Each child will need: a strip of string, one each of the colors of beads, and a printed card.
  • Tie a knot about 2" from the end on one end.
  • Thread the black bead onto the string from the unknotted end, until the bead rests against the knot:
The black bead represents the sin in my life before I accepted Jesus.
  • Now thread the red bead onto the string:
The red bead represents the blood that Jesus shed when He died for me. He paid my price.
  • Now thread the white bead onto the string:
The white bead represents how Jesus cleaned my sin from me when I asked Him to help me.
  • Now thread the blue bead onto the string:
The blue bead represents the new life Jesus has given me.
  • Now thread the green bead onto the string:
The green bead represents my growth in Jesus through prayer, reading my bible, and talking to wise Christians.
  • Now thread the yellow bead onto the string:
The yellow bead represents my renewed relationship with God.  I'm no longer separated from God.
  • Tie a knot behind the yellow bead.  The beads should be sandwiched between the knots.
  • Thread one end of the string through a clear bead. Tie a knot in the end.
  • Thead the other end of the string through the bead from the opposite side. Tie a knot in the end.

John 3:16

Discussion With Miss Shelley

Let’s learn this very important scripture to help us when we share our faith with others.

Lead the children through each picture until they can repeat the scripture without your help.

What we did

We decorated strawberry Newtons with icing to make them look like bibles. Then we shared the cookies with eachother.

Sin and Strawberries

Discussion With Miss Sandi

You know that the Word of God is good and you can share that goodness with other people.  Turn to your neighbor, give them the “bible” cooking and tell them< “God loves you so much!  The bible tells me so!”

Our First Aid Kits

Discussion With Miss Darcien

Each kid will receive their fanny pack rescue bag.
When God asks us to share the good news of Jesus’s gift of salvation, He prepares us with the tools.

Give each child a flashlight.
A flashlight helps our lost friends if they are lost in a dark cave or in the dark forest.  It reminds us that we also once walked in darkness because of sin, but Jesus was our light that lead us to safety. Remember our Scripture: Romans 3:23

Have the kids turn in their bible to Romans 3:23 to remember Monday’s scripture..
Give each child a rope coil.
A rope can save us if a friend needs help to climb a tree or a out of a hole.  If our friend stays in the hole, they could die. It reminds us that if Jesus is the one who saves us from the danger of sin.  Remember our scriptura: Romans 6:23.

Have the kids turn in their bible to Romans 6:23 to remember Tuesday’s scripture.
Give each child an alcohol pad and a couple of band aids:
When a friend has a cut, we can use a swab to clean it and a band aid to help it heal.  These things remind us that only Jesus can clean us from our sin and heal the wounds our sins have caused. Remember our scripture: Romans 5:8.

Have the kids turn in their bible to Romans 5:8 to remember Wednesday’s scripture.
Give each child a granola bar and a bottle of water.
When we find our lost friends in the woods, we can offer them food and water because it will help them to feel better and give their body what it needs.  They just need to eat and drink them.  These things remind us that everyone who turns to Jesus will have food and water that feeds their spirits forever. Jesus helps us grow.  They just need to ask him for help and they will be saved. Remember our Scriptures:  Romans 6:23b & Romans 10:9-10.

Have the kids turn in their bible to Romans 6:23b & Romans 10:9-10 to remember Thursday’s scripture.
Give each child a compass.
A compass shows us the way we should walk when we are walking in the woods.  When we share our faith, we have a BIBLE.  It leads us so we can know where God wants us to go.

Our bibles tells about this too.  In John 3:16, God tells us that he loves so so so much that he gave us his son to save us from sin. All we have to do is confess our sins to him and accept that he is our savior.

[Have the kids turn to John 3:16 and place white sticky note with the scripture reference in that place. ]

And our bible tells us that we are supposed to share this wonderful news with everyone we can in Matthew 28:18-20.

[Have the kids turn to Matthew 28:18-20 and place white sticky note with the scripture reference in that place. ]

We don't have to be embarrassed or scared to share the Good News of Jesus.  Our bibles encourage us in Romans 1:16.

[Have the kids turn to Romans 1:16 and place white sticky note with the scripture reference in that place. ]

Helping Others Trivia Game

Discussion With Miss Darcien

There are people all over the world who don't have food, or water, or clothes, or bibles.  We can help them by giving to an organization that gives these people, who are in need, the things they need.

What we did

We played a trivia game, reviewing what we learned this week.  Each question had a monetary value: $1 questions, $5 questions, and $10 questions.  When we answered a question correctly we got to pick what category of gift we wanted to send. We could send food, we could send water systems, or we could send bibles. Miss Darcien will let us know when the money we gave has been sent.  (And for each question we answered correctly we got a piece of candy.)

Help Jesus gather the lost sheep! You win when you get all the sheep into the sheep pen!

Follow the Clues

What we did

We chased balloon sheep to try and get them into their sheep pen.  We could only use our feet.

And we listened to "Bullfrogs and Butterflies: I Like Knowing God the Best" and 05 The Lost Sheep: (song).

Please, God, May I? Game

This is like Mother, May I? But with an emphasis on waiting to do what God says to do.
  1. Choose a child to represent God.  They stand a the front of the room, with their back to the other players.
  2. Have the other players line up next to each other, about a foot apart.
  3. “God” calls an a player and telles them how many steps to take (and for extra fun can add thinkgs like “waddle for two steps” or “hop like a rabbit for three steps, etc.)
  4. That player must first say, “Please, God, May I?”.  If “God” says yes, the player moves as instructed.  If “God” says “no”, then the player stays put.
  5. If the player FORGETS to say “Please, God,  May I?” first, they go back to the beginning.
  6. If another player moves out of turn, they go back to the beginning.
  7. The first player to reach “God” wins!

Twist on the game
Not all the steps have to be forward - they can be backward too, which can help the game last longer.

Follow the Clues Game

What we did

As a group we followed one clue to the next to find a treasure of Lambys for each of us!

Find All the Lambs!

What we did

We broke into three teams and each team looked for 10 lost sheep that matched their team's color: yellow, blue, or red.

END OF OUR DAY

When all our fun was done.  We gathered in the sanctuary to

Dismissal Blessing

Father Steven blessed us and then we got our things together to wait for our family to get us.
